First of all, digital cameras are not wasteful. If a person takes a picture and it does not come out the way they want it to, they do not have to keep the picture. It can be deleted and cleared permanently from the camera as opposed to film cameras, which need to have their film processed and cannot simply be deleted. The pictures that are kept and printed are the pictures that are truly desired.
Digital cameras are also able to offer better quality pictures for many people. The resolution that many digital cameras offer can improve the overall effect of the picture, creating clearer and sharper images.
They are also much more convenient to use since they only require space on the memory card or in the camera to take a picture, not additional pieces such as film that will need to be incorporated.
Over the course of time, it is also very possible that a person will be able to save money by purchasing a digital camera as opposed to a film camera. This depends on the camera life and the number of pictures that the person takes, but in general a person can typically save a great deal of money since they do not need to pay for the film developing process, the film itself, and other accessory items that film cameras require.
